The holidays are full of indulgent treats—balance them out with a refreshing, festive, and fruity Christmas Candy Claus Smoothie!
I’m so excited to share this recipe with you today! I have a very special guest blogger who has been working on this recipe and preparing this post for weeks now! It’s none other than….DAVID!
Before I hand it over to him, let me fill you in on this special guy! First—are you all saying his name the way we do? Because it’s spelled the same way in English and Spanish. We pronounce his name in Spanish—”Da-veed”—to reflect Irving’s Dominican heritage. David is 4, almost 5, and if all goes well, I fully believe that he will take over most of the household cooking by the time he’s 10. At least, a mom can dream, right? This guy loves to cook, to read cookbooks, and to dream up his own recipes. When he’s not cooking he can be found reading anything he can get his hands on. Lately that’s been anything about space and the planets.
I’m a bit of a Christmas fanatic, so it’s no surprise that my little apple didn’t fall far. David has been thinking of Christmas for over a month now! He came up with the idea for this smoothie, and the name too! Its bright red color is perfect for Santa! And you know that he needs to drink up something healthy before setting off to deliver presents to all of the kids!
^^^ If only we’d thought to bring a smoothie to Santa this morning!
Without further ado….here’s David:
Fried Dandelions: What made you think of a Christmas Candy Claus Smoothie?
David: Ok. Well, what made me think of it was that it was healthy, vegan, and a good, good smoothie.
FD: What fruits did you choose for the smoothie, and why?
D: Ok, strawberries, cherries, oranges and banana and water. Well, I chose those because they looked just like candy and it’s coming up to be Christmas now so that’s why.
FD: What is your favorite kind of food to make?
D: Toast with smoothies on the side.
FD: Do you think it’s important for kids to learn how to cook? Why?
D: I think it is. They need to learn to be careful when they learn to use a kitchen like stoves, knives, ovens, or microwaves.

FD: What are you most excited for this Christmas?
D: Everything!
FD: Can you pick a few things that you are most excited about?
D: Stockings full of fun toys, the advent calendar, Jesus’ birthday, and our advent wreath. And Christmas snacks.
Add this to your breakfast repertoire during the Christmas season—it’s a perfect early morning boost! And if you wouldn’t mind, snap a picture of your delicious smoothie, post it on Instagram, and tag it with #frieddandelions? David would LOVE to see your pictures!!!
