Mighty O Donuts

Last September I was featured in my local newspaper for my participation in Vegan Mofo.  It was a fun opportunity, and I gained quite a few local followers.  In fact, one of my good friends was at the grocery store and even overheard two women talking about “that vegan blogger.”  Pretty exciting!  But even more exciting was what happened next.

Seattle is an incredibly vegan friendly city and there are all kinds of vegan and vegan friendly establishments, including David’s and my favorite donut shop, Mighty O.  Their donuts are all dairy and egg free, non gmo, organic, and no dyes.  Basically health food.  So we go there a lot.  So imagine my surprise and excitement when the nice lady at Mighty O sent me an email, saying that she had seen the article and wondered if I would like to try some donuts on them.  Um, yes.  Right away please.  In full disclosure, I mentioned that I had already tried 1 or 2 or 49 of their donuts before, but that I would love to do an official taste testing and then write about it.  Yes, this was in September.  Yes, it is now March.  And yes, my gift card has long been used and then some.  So sorry Mighty O!

But I’m here now to share all of their donut goodness, and to let you know that Mighty O is a must go.  In fact, I’m very excited to be meeting one of my good friends (and now vegan—did I have something to do with that?  I hope!) and her little girls there later this week!  She moved away years ago, but thanks to the magic of facebook we’ve been able to stay in touch and share all things veggie cooking!

Anyway, back to the donuts.  I don’t even think I could pick a favorite flavor—they are all so good!  Most of their donuts are cake style donuts, but they do also have a yeast raised donut which is Irving’s favorite kind (shown above).  David and I just prefer anything that has frosting on it—we’re not picky.

^^^ Like this Grasshopper Donut—Chocolate Mint—not your ordinary breakfast donut!

My dad is a super donut connoisseur and he loves them “despite being vegan.”  As if that was a bad thing.

^^^ We also love this Apple Fritter Donut—a donut goodness monstrosity!

They also have a full coffee bar for those of you who like to dunk your donuts.  Definitely check them out on your next visit to Seattle.  And for those of you who are local, Eastsiders can pick up their donuts at Bellevue’s Whole Foods and at PCC Markets as well (although not nearly the flavor selection).  David and I often split a chocolate donut with raspberry frosting after Whole Foods runs—yum!

^^^ See the “Vote Yes on 522” in the background?  Love me a non-gmo donut shop!

You’ll be happy with any donut you choose—you really can’t go wrong.  So what are you waiting for?  Get over there and try one today!

^^^ The bottom donut pictured is Irving’s favorite—the raised glazed donut—so good!

Mighty O can be found at 2110 N 55th St., Seattle, WA, 98103.  I received a gift card for 1 dozen donuts free of charge.  I was not paid for my review, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.  I’ve was a fan of Mighty O long before I got this gift card!

I love to hear from you! Please leave a comment on my facebook wall or send me an email at sarah@frieddandelions.com.
