Summer is winding down—heck, school has already started—but we are still having warm days and there is a watermelon sitting on my counter, so it can’t be completely done, right? Isn’t the first day of fall September 23rd? Ok, so then I have time to share some smoothie recipes!
Earlier this summer the folks at GoodBelly contacted me and asked me if I would like to try some of their probiotic drinks. I’d had them before, but who could turn down free*? So a few weeks later I got my very own huge box of Good Belly drinks!
From GoodBelly….
GoodBelly drinks are certified organic, non-GMO, dairy-free, soy-free and vegan and are available in a variety of size and flavors to suit any taste and health & dietary needs. Made with the most well-researched probiotic strains, LP299V, each serving of GoodBelly works to support a healthy digestive system by replenishing the gut with a balance of microflora.
They’ve got lots of different flavors with fruits like blueberries, mango, strawberry, and even vanilla! They are soy free, and many of their flavors are gluten free. They also come in small “Plus Shots” or larger cartons that you drink 8 ounces at a time. I appreciate the efficiency of the shots—they’re great for a morning when I want to have a coffee drink or tea and don’t want to be totally water logged. As far as flavors go, the cartons are our family’s favorites. The downside is that they’re pretty high in sugar. The shots are much lower, so they might be a good swap if you want to make these smoothies on a regular basis!
I ended up making two different smoothies—similar ingredients and formula, but made with different flavors of Good Belly. They both use frozen watermelon and banana as a base. The banana makes it creamy, and the watermelon gives it a bit of sweetness and makes it nice and frothy, without diluting the flavor the way ice would.
The first uses the Tropical Orange flavor—orange, banana, and passion fruit. I pair it with strawberries and it turns into a beautiful shade of pink!
The second uses Blueberry Açai—super anti-oxidants! I pair this one with blueberries, naturally, and it makes this smoothie bright purple!
We couldn’t pick a favorite so you’ll just have to make both.
The boys scarfed these smoothies down—heck, they try to gobble up the ingredients before I can even blend them!
When you try these….and I know you will, take a picture, follow me on Instagram, and tag your picture with #frieddandelions so that I can see!
