Banana Almond Shakes and Sunny Days

Today was a beautiful, sunny, spring day in Seattle and David and I made the most of every minute of it!  We kicked off the day with a playdate and picnic at the park down the street from us.  I love this park—I call it my backyard—it’s literally 1 block away—I think we are there almost every day!

Look what I found in the sandbox? Could there really be another vegan family nearby?!?

Then we hightailed it from our picnic over to my parents’ house so that David could play with Grandma and Aunt Hannah while I treated myself to a long over due pedicure, just in time for our upcoming trip to California this weekend!  If you’re interested in some cruelty free, people safe nail polish talk, check out this great post on Choosing Raw.  While I was pampered, David got to help Grandma with her gardening—he was in Heaven digging in the dirt!

Late this afternoon we had an impromptu playdate at another park, which we combined with a walk to and from so I could get my exercise in—it’s downhill from our house to get there, but that means it’s some serious uphill to get home!  Of course, we had so much fun at the park that we almost forgot to leave—we didn’t head home until 6:45!  While I was thankful for leftovers to heat up for dinner, David cried/whined most of the mile + walk home and I knew I needed to get him some food and fast!  The second we walked in the door I made a quick Banana Almond shake that he could start gulping down while I got the rest of the dinner heated up.  So delicious—this could be a breakfast, snack, or dessert!  No sugars added and still super sweet!  Banana shake to the rescue!

This is why we couldn’t leave the park! Despite all the rain, Seattle really is a beautiful place.
