Sleep is a rare commodity around here these days.  As Jonathan nears the 4 week mark it’s definitely getting better—a lot better—but there have been some very very long nights—days?—and that whole bit about “sleep when the baby is sleeping” totally flies out the window with baby number 2!

^^^ At least someone gets to take naps during the day!

So there have been many days when I’ve turned to one of my fave smoothies for a quick pick me up.  In fact, I’m about to make one just before I run out to get a pedicure (Happy Mother’s Day!) this afternoon!  I know, I can’t wait—for the pedicure too!

This smoothie is sweet and creamy, without any added sugar.  It’s a pretty green color, and it tastes great too!  I get my matcha at our local Asian grocery store—it’s where I’ve found the best price.  Matcha can be pricey, but a bag lasts a long time—like a year if you use it on a regular basis like I do!  I think it’s worth it!

^^^ Bonus: tastes great with donuts!

^^^ Check my original post for instructions on how to prep the ingredients ahead of time if desired—then you can really just blend and go!

Matcha Made in Heaven
1 banana
1 tsp powdered Matcha Green Tea
1 cup (2 frozen cubes) spinach
¼ pear (if you have one handy—I let them ripen, slice them in quarters and freeze)
2 dates
1 T hemp
1 c soy milk (or other non dairy milk)

Place all ingredients into the blender and blend.  You can add water or ice to thin or thicken the consistency to your preference.  Enjoy!
